In 2011, my grandfather lent me his black Panasonic LX3 before my trip to Turkey. It was the first camera I owned, albeit only for two weeks. Even though grandpa handwrote a whole page of instructions for me about the modes and functions of the camera, all I really knew as a 10-year-old was to put the camera on auto mode and click the big round button located on the top-right corner. When I returned home and showed my work to my grandpa, he still applauded my effort and even posted some of my not-so-blurry photos on his photography forum. Inspired by both the trip and the new toy that runs on battery and does magical things, I became enthusiastic in learning more about photography.
Almost six years later, when I opened up the album that has all the pictures I took in Turkey on my computer, I could relive my feelings about the great places that I visited and the experiences I had –– the brilliance of the Ottoman empire's Dolmabahçe Palace, my first ever hot air balloon ride, and the Persian cat that bit me while I was trying to hold it... I learned that photographs store memories in life and make each second eternal.
Born in Beijing, China and currently a student in the United States, I'm so lucky that I get to experience different cultures. I love to capture the moments in life by taking photographs of this beautiful world. I now own a Canon 7D and, of course, I learned a few more techniques other than just clicking the shutter.
Compared to millions of photographers out there, I still have a long way to go and there are so many things that I can learn from their expertise. So, I created this portfolio to share my moments in life with friends and hopefully gain more knowledge about photography from others. I will strive to update this site as often as possible. In the form under the tab "Contact", please tell me how I can do better with my photos and this portfolio. And, yes, these seemingly cliché sentences are the very words that I feel like I have to say. Thanks for visiting.
Capture the moment...
